Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Head of Lower School to support the design, vision, and implementation of the Nursery through Grade 4 program. The successful candidate will possess excellent knowledge of curriculum and instruction; expertise in adult development and inspiring others; a thirst for creativity and innovation; and enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues. She, he, or they will be able to lead with joy, humor, and an unflagging sense of purpose to create the conditions in which teachers and students thrive.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Act as an educational leader of the division by maintaining congruency between the School’s mission statement, the division’s priorities, and all activities of the Lower School community. 
• Collaborate with the Head of Lower School to hire, develop, and evaluate faculty and grow a joyful, diverse, and exceptionally talented community of professionals committed to lifelong learning.
• Supervise curriculum implementation and review in 1st through 4th grades, strengthening vertical alignment across the division and into Middle School, and ensuring curricula reflect school priorities, the school’s values of diversity, equity, and social justice, and 21st century skills. 
• Oversee the documentation, monitoring, and communication of student progress in 1st through 4th grades, collaborating with teachers, families, and specialists to do everything possible to ensure students meet or exceed Poly’s high expectations.
• Maintain strong communication with all relevant stakeholders through appropriate records/documentation, notes and emails, presentations, and in-person discussions.
• Help establish and monitor Lower School budget. 
• Ensure teachers can access the resources they need to create an inclusive and engaging 21st century learning environment.
• Approve and disperse professional development funds in consultation with the Head of Lower School to advance school and divisional priorities.
• Actively participate in a positive school culture through shared duties, faculty meeting discussions, special events, committees, and professional development.
