This position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Aid: Independently administer and monitor all aspects of student-athlete financial aid, both athletic and non-athletic. Track and monitor individual and team financial aid limits. Coordinate all NLI, athletic aid agreements, renewals, and aid cancellations. Responsible for making tuition, housing, and off-campus room and board payments. Assist with the books scholarship program. Main contact for current and prospective student-athletes, as well as their families, regarding student accounts, scholarships, and the administration of financial aid. Assist with the resolution of financial issues and payments to student-accounts. Coordinate with the UW Office of Student Financial Aid on all athletics aid scholarships and FAFSA issues. Manage the summer athletic aid budget and administer all aspects of the summer athletic aid program. Coordinate the use of the Student Assistance Fund (SAF). Awards and Benefits: Work directly with coaches and other athletic staff members to ensure all awards and benefits that are provided to student-athletes meet all institutional, conference and NCAA rules including, but not limited to, occasional meals, banquets, letter awards and participation awards. Education: Assist the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with the implementation of the Compliance education program. Responsible for the creation of compliance educational materials and organization of in-person educational sessions for coaches, department, and outside entities. This position requires highly specialized knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and how they integrate with institutional guidelines. Must be able to identify and resolve problems and issues in a timely manner using independent judgment and decision-making abilities. Assist with NCAA and Pacific-12 rules interpretations. This position will work directly with ICA staff, coaches and student-athletes to promote a positive compliance environment and to establish and maintain programs and procedures to ensure compliance with University, Pacific-12 Conference, and NCAA regulations and federal and state law. Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pacific-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of related work experience. Applicant must have a working knowledge of NCAA regulations and NCAA systems (e.g. LSDBi, Compliance Assistant). Familiarity with NAAC best practice standards and willingness to travel to professional conferences. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to assume a variety of independent responsibilities. Individual must be able to work under pressure in a busy and diverse environment handling confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner. Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Applicant must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and database applications. DESIRED: Post-graduate degree desirable. Background and experience in NCAA compliance at a Division I institution. Direct experience with Bylaw 15 and a working knowledge of FAFSA and federal financial aid regulations. Working knowledge of Front Rush compliance software. Desire to be part of a close-knit team and to help advance our compliance office forward.
