Established in 1985, The University of Washington's Division of General Internal Medicine has grown into the largest Division in the UW Department of Medicine. The Division has a workforce of approximately 400, including nearly 300 faculty members who are known for their outstanding research, teaching and patient care, and clinical activities at the UW Medical Center (UWMC), Harborview Medical Center (HMC), and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) sites. The Division has an annual budget of nearly $50 million including over 30 research faculty, 30 current grants and $12 million in annual grant expenditures. GIM research sites are located at multiple sites across Seattle, including including Harborview, Metropolitan Park, Pat Steel, the University District, and Fremont. The Division of General Internal Medicine has a great opportunity for a full-time Research Consultant. The Research Consultant will work in the Value and Systems Science Lab – a unit with a strong reputation, track record, and national leadership in the areas of health systems and value-based care. Lead by a faculty director, the Lab is comprised of several investigators from the Division of General Internal Medicine who collectively manage multiple research awards, graduate trainees who regularly serve as Lab fellows and 2 research staff. Lab members collaborate regularly with others within and beyond the UW community. The Research Consultant will conduct statistical analyses on several studies related to health services and care delivery evaluations. This individual will work closely with the faculty director and other Lab members to implement statistical methods needed to complete the research. Specifically, the Research Consultant will work on projects related to how public health care and private care delivery policies and interventions impact the quality, utilization, and costs of health care. The Research Consultant will be able to translate requests into actionable results through interactions with and organization of claims and other quantitative databases, formulation of displays of results, and development of complex code related to regression modeling and other quantitative data analysis methods. The Research Consultant will be accountable for conducting data analysis (including all aspects of data cleaning, merging, programming, and analysis) and reporting of results for projects involving statistical analysis of quantitative data.
