Job Summary:
The Director for Evaluation and Assessment and Diversity Initiatives will provide strategic leadership for the collaboration and integration of diversity initiatives throughout Northwestern. They will work closely with leaders in our schools and administrative units who oversee diversity efforts and the wider university community to assess strategies, activities and programs that are designed to enhance diversity. They will consult on the development and implementation of key diversity initiatives with assessment and evaluation goals in mind.
The Director will report to the Vice President/Associate Provost of Diversity and Inclusion and will work closely with the Associate Vice President, Information and Analytics in the Office of Administration and Planning.

Specific Responsibilities:
STRATEGIC PLANNING: Directs and develops a comprehensive assessment plan for the University Strategic Diversity Plan, including staff, faculty, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across Northwestern.
DIVERSITY INITIATIVES MANAGEMENT: Directs the assessment of campus diversity initiatives. Oversees development and implementation of assessment processes and supports elements of data collection, reporting, and stakeholder engagement around assessment. Establishes and oversees management of a Diversity Initiatives Database, including working with unit leaders on campus to update current and identify new diversity initiatives.
CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT: Works with campus/unit leaders to develop strategic diversity plans and identify and implement innovative initiatives around inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability.
RESEARCH: Partners with schools, administrative units, and scholars on external research proposals pertaining to diversity at Northwestern. In collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research, creates data for use in grant proposals.
CULTURE OF ASSESSMENT: Establishes a value and culture of assessment. Models and demonstrates leading principles in assessment, including transparency, accountability, intersectional analysis, and reflection.
INFORMATION LIAISON: Serves on various university, division, and departmental committees and represents the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion at various state and national associations. Also, serves as the Office’s secondary public information liaison. Serves as a liaison to the Office of Institutional Research to ensure broad coordination of efforts.
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Master’s or higher degree in a related field required.
Minimum 5 years experience managing data and research projects, preferably in a higher education setting.
Expertise in research, measurement, statistics, qualitative methods, mixed methods, and/or higher education administration with an emphasis in assessment, research, and measurement.
Experience with SPSS, Excel, and qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
Advanced quantitative knowledge in multivariate analysis, linear regression, and item response theory.
Experience with survey design and data analysis.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong research and writing skills.
Ability to be self-motivated and detailed oriented.
Knowledge of the culture and environment of Northwestern or similar research university.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to effectively interact with diverse populations.
