Location: West Hartford, CT Category: Faculty Posted On: Tue Dec 14 2021 Job Description: The School of Interdisciplinary Health and Science at the University of Saint Joseph is seeking candidates for a full-time, 9 month, tenure-track, Assistant/Associate Professor and the Director of the Health Science major. The Health Science Program is located within the Nutrition and Public Health Department. The Department offers undergraduate programs in nutrition and dietetics, public health, exercise science and health science along with a post-graduate accredited dietetic internship, an online Master's degree in Nutrition, and an online Master of Public Health. The Department also offers graduate certificates in health coaching, public health and sports nutrition. The successful candidate will join the faculty of the Nutrition and Public Health Department. As Director of the Health Science Program, the faculty member will provide leadership and administrative guidance to the program that is one of the fastest growing programs at USJ. The Director is also responsible for program reports, program curriculum, procurement and management of resources, management of preceptorships, and student advisement. The faculty member will work closely with the Physician Assistant Studies Program director and the Pharmacy program as there are Health Science tracks that accepts freshmen for direct entry into the USJ Physician Assistant Studies program and 3+3 Health Science to Pharmacy option. Responsibilities as a USJ Professor comprise active participation in department, school, and university activities and committees. In accordance with the University's mission, faculty members are also responsible for advancing development in pedagogy, scholarship, mentoring student research, and service to the university and affiliated communities. Job Requirements: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree and have a degree in a Health Science related discipline including but not limited to public health, health promotion, physical or occupational therapy, audiology, nutrition, epidemiology, behavioral medicine, health education. Preferred candidates must have a record of excellent teaching experience and the ability to teach courses in multiple aspects of health such as health promotion, public health, chronic diseases and disabilities, nutrition, ethics, legal issues and leadership in health care. A record of scholarly work and the ability to engage an increasingly diverse student body in research, and in health promotion. The ideal candidate will have experience working in some aspect of the health field, and experience in program administration. A candidate who is ABD will be considered. Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population is required as is the physical ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Additional Information: The anticipated hiring range for this position is $63,000-$77,000 per year ($63,000-$69,000 for Assistant Professor; $67,000-$77,000 for Associate Professor).
