Job Description: The Department of Health Sciences at Furman University invites applications for a one-year visiting faculty position at the rank of Visiting Instructor, Assistant Visiting Professor, Associate Visiting Professor, or Visiting Professor, to begin August 2022. A Ph.D. in public health or closely related field by August 1, 2022 is preferred. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include 5 courses per year in our department. Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in 1) Wellness Concepts, a course designed to promote lifetime fitness and healthy lifestyle habits; 2) Fundamentals of Public Health, a foundational course introducing students to the study of public health and improving the health of populations; and/or 3) Research Methods, a course focused on principles of research relevant to health sciences focusing on study design, measurement, and introductory statistical techniques. Teaching experience is preferred. Specialty within public health is open with the potential opportunity to teach select public health electives based on expertise. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and be committed to assisting the university in its continuing efforts to become a model of inclusive excellence.
