Position Summary Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration and the Executive Director of Human Resources and Financial Operations of the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), the Assistant Director performs budget entry and analyses, prepares monthly reports for all units, develops expenditure and revenue forecasts, creates and modifies projects, initiatives and segments, performs transfers and expenditure corrections as needed, and provides ongoing monitoring of the School's 90M annual operating budget. Responsibilities Develop, update, analyze and report on a five-year budget of the School's core revenues and expenditures using the OMB model but focusing on core SIPA revenue and expense. Provide monthly forecast updates, including updates to the University's budget tool of projected revenues and expenditures for all SIPA, affiliated Center, Institute and agency accounts. Produce and analyze month-end balance reports, identifying emerging resource shortfalls, targets for fund reallocation, etc. Create and deliver monthly financial reports on expenditures across SIPA cost centers and affiliated centers and programs, incorporating data from the University's Accounting and Reporting at Columbia (ARC) system. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Business Operations on outreach to SIPA's cost centers and centers/programs on the monthly expense review process and other financial policies and procedures. Create monthly financial reports on expenditures across SIPA???s approximately 50 affiliated student organizations. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Business Operations on outreach to student organization leaders on the monthly review and reconciliation process of financial activities. Assist in the development, implementation and management of the SIPA Finance Site. Assist in the development and preparation of the School's annual operating budget including submission of the budget through the University's budget tool, and preparation of tuition and other statistical addenda. Assist in the analysis and submission of Consolidated Operating Budget (COB) quarterly variance explanations to the University Budget Office for use in quarterly Trustee's updates. Review COB detail monthly and produce quarterly/monthly COB detail and summary analyses for senior management. Coordinate government and private grants forecasting and proxy budgeting with the SIPA Assistant Director of Business Operations and appropriate staff and faculty from SIPA cost centers and affiliated Centers and Institutes. Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports as necessary for senior management, the SIPA Advisory Board, the Faculty Finance Committee, the Office of Alumni and Development (OAD), the SIPA Annual Report, etc. Minimum Qualifications
