The UW MEDICINE ACCOUNTING has an outstanding HYBRID OPPORTUNITY for a full time, day shift, SENIOR FINANCIAL REPORTING ANALYST. The UWM Senior Financial Reporting Analyst plays a senior role in UW Medicine Financial Reporting activities, projects, and process improvement initiatives. Accountabilities include, but are not limited to, direct responsibility for the financial reporting for complex areas within UW Medicine, such as: COVID19 cost and reimbursement tracking / reporting, inclusive of FEMA and other government-related reporting; Joint venture and other partnership accounting and reporting such as Embright (UW Medicine's Clinically Integrated Network partnership), Accountable Care Network (ACN) and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) accounting and reporting; Medicaid Transformation funding and distributions reporting; etc. This individual is a key member of the Finance Team, working very closely with the UWM and Entity leadership to provide relevant and timely reporting and analytical support to UWM and UW Leadership. Particular complexity arises from the continued work across UWM to integrate and consolidate clinical and administrative systems, processes and resources. Chief among these initiatives is the UW Finance Transformation (UWFT), where this individual will play a lead role in the design and deployment of future state financial reporting policies, practices and processes. The UWM Senior Financial Reporting Analyst plays an active, senior role in the preparation, compilation and review of the UWM internal, external and consolidated and statutory financial reporting for the UWM Clinical Enterprise. This individual has accountability for ensuring the technical accuracy, relevance and consistency with both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal financial reporting policies. In collaboration with the various UW Medicine entities and the Manager of Financial Reporting and Assistant Controller, this individual will participate in the design, development and maintenance of standards for financial reports and reporting tools across the enterprise. Primary job duties include complex research, coordination and resolution of financial reporting issues among health system entities, development of and preparation for standard Board level financial reports and metrics, and leadership in business and technology projects where consistent, standard financial reporting is a deliverable. In addition to the complexity described above, related to operational and financial integration, a very high degree of complexity arises from the affiliate relationships within UW Medicine and the overall systems environment. Major accountabilities for this position include collaboration between entity operations and the centralized UW Medicine Finance function, with minimal disruption in service or quality, to execute on the financial reporting changes associated with UWM's strategic iniatiative work. There continues to be an unprecedented level of change in healthcare over the next few years and for UWM, there is a resultant need to improve the quality and timeliness of financial information delivery while streamlining and standardizing administrative systems and processes. The finance business systems, policies and processes will be evolving heavily with these changes. This position requires significant judgement, professional skepticism, flexibility and strong collaboration skills. The clinical entities within UWM comprise over $2.2B in Operating Revenue and represent nearly 40% of the overall FTE's for the University. Major inter-related systems for which this position has financial reporting accountabilities include the 1) General Ledgers for UWMC, HMC, UW Medicine IT Services, ALNW, UWNC and Shared Services; 2) Consolidated Reporting Tool, which also sources the UWM Long Range Financial Plans. In addition, there are multiple complex interfaces running between these and other Medical Center subsidiary systems as well as an extremely complex and fragile interface delivering revenue, expense and cash settlement activity back and forth between the Campus systems and the Medical Center systems. There are several million transactions running through these systems monthly. The ability to both effectively prioritize as well as respond quickly to shifts in priorities is critical.
