Position Summary

The ColumbiaDoctors Faculty Practice Organization (FPO) Nurse Practitioner provides a full scope of primary care, travel medicine, episodic and chronic care, and women's health care services in FPO clinical practice and corporate health practice locations. The NP will also provide clinical and clinical competency oversight for the FPO practice clinical support staff. The NP will have clinical and admitting privileges at New York-Presbyterian hospital, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the network of nearly 2,000 providers in more than 230 specialties and subspecialties at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Oversee or contribute to the management of corporate health relationships, onsite corporate health locations, and/or regional corporate partner programs. Collaborate to promote and market services, establish relationships for referrals and access, and identify opportunities for expansion as needed.
•  Serve as the lead provider at assigned FPO clinical practices and uphold ColumbiaDoctors??? commitment to providing patients with high-quality care.  Duties will include:
  • Examine, diagnose and treat patients in a primary care practice setting.
  • Collect, record, and consistently maintain accurate and thorough patient information.
  • Order and/or perform various tests, analyses, and diagnostic imaging to diagnose and track patients??? health.
  • Perform vaccinations.
  • Organize and lead wellness events and outreach to the clients.
  • Collaborate/consult with other clinical and non-clinical professionals in an efficient manner.
• Provide coverage for corporate practices.
• Oversees and documents the implementation and compliance with institutional policies, procedures, programs, protocols, and systems to provide an efficient and accurate patient encounter which improves the medical office???s effectiveness and the quality of patient outcomes. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies, departmental and organizational policies, and procedures for all staff.
• Keeps current on all organizational, regulatory compliance, and patient privacy trainings policies (e.g. infection control, public safety, EH&S, HIPAA, OSHA, etc.) and successfully completes all required trainings.

Strategy

• Monitors key performance indicators and implements performance improvement initiatives, as needed. Continuously seeks and implements operational improvements. Utilizes electronic medical record dashboards and reports to monitor keep performance indicators of operational, clinical, and revenue cycle workflows to ensure a holistic view of the practice operation. Develops practice optimization and improvement strategies and utilizes a data-driven methodology to monitor progress and staff performance.
• Develops and maintains a good productive and collaborative relationship with departmental and clinical management and representatives. 
• Supports customer satisfaction initiatives, displaying a positive attitude in interactions with staff, patients, and family members.

People 

• Direct oversight of assigned staff and evaluates the competencies of clinical staff in FPO practices.
• Offers continuing guidance and assistance to employees on work activities, procedures, competency development, and performance-related issues as appropriate. Ensures leadership is kept aware of the performance of each employee on an ongoing basis. Addresses any performance-related issues promptly.
• Promotes staff professionalism and performance with coaching, training, and feedback.  Mentors others in individual and team accountability, modeling behavior, and demonstrating best practices/techniques. Demonstrates self-development and keeps current on a variety of nursing and health care topics.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of related experience providing direct clinical services in an ambulatory care setting. 
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• A current unrestricted license in New York as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Current Nurse Practitioner Board Certification.
• Certification as Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.
• Demonstrated advanced skills in problem assessment, resolution and collaborative problem-solving in complex and interdisciplinary settings including advanced proficiency in nursing competencies.
• The candidate must be well organized and be able to manage a demanding workload and moderately complex cases in an accurate and timely.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.  This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively, and effectively with professional staff, providers, and organizational stakeholders. 
• Ability to lead and mentor team through new and changing situations.  Demonstrate a professional and compassionate manner while conveying a positive image of the practice.
• Ability to work independently and follow through and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations.
• Must be a motivated individual with a positive mindset and exceptional work ethic.
• Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
• Must have the ability to adapt to a flexible schedule. Flex shifts, Nights, and/or Days with night rotation positions are available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Physician practice experience preferred.
