Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is a University administrative department that assists organizational units in meeting their responsibility to protect the environment and to provide a safe and healthful place for employment and learning. We have an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Computer Specialist. This position, which is housed within EH&S's Planning & Administration section, performs the following: •Provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, management, and support of the Occupational Health Manager (OHM) application, and security needs for the OHM system. •Acts as a network and security consultant to the clinical and administrative staff at the CPH employee health clinics (EHCs) at Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC-ML), Northwest Hospital (UWMC-NWH), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC) and the University of Washington EH&S EHC, located at Hall Health Center (UW EHC). •Provides active support of OHM directly to the clinical and administrative staff at the CPH employee health clinics (EHCs) at Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC-ML), Northwest Hospital (UWMC-NWH), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC) and the University of Washington EH&S EHC, located at Hall Health Center (UW EHC). The position functions independently under management of Planning and Administration (PNA), in support of the Campus Preventive Health (CPH) Assistant Director in the University of Washington’s Environmental Health & Safety Department while following the security and policy guidelines of UW Medicine and PHI regulation. The position is also responsible for supporting the clinical and administrative staff at the CPH employee health clinics (EHCs) at Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC-ML), Northwest Hospital (UWMC-NWH), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC) and the University of Washington EH&S EHC, located at Hall Health Center (UW EHC). Knowledge of the health community requirements and their specialized needs allows the position to act as the interface between the university user community and the vendor. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OHM Application Management •Plan, test, develop, implement, manage, and support current and future OHM application modules. •Coordinate with CPH in the planning, development, implementation, management, and support of current and future application system modules, assisting staff in customization of clinic-specific reports and the standardization of cross-clinic reports. •Ensure that all staff members have appropriate access and serve as the technical expert. •Maintain database data integrity through routine checks of information downloaded from the University HR system, Workday. •Provide user training and documentation and inform users of new features or problems with the system modules. •Serve as the technical contact with system vendors and provide feedback regarding functionality and usability. Review and recommend application revisions and updates. •Download and import COVID19 vaccination, RTPCR and Serology test data into OHM database. •Responsible for sharing records and streamlining the business process of sharing immunization records between UW employee health clinics and affiliated hospitals. •Audit all user activities in OHM database and inform the ITS Manager of Computing and CPH Assistant Director of unusual activities with user accounts. •Create new and modify existing SSRS reports for users in five clinics and directors, managers on campus. •Act as a privacy officer for the OHM program. •Track HIPAA security changes as they affect OHM Policies and Procedures. •Report privacy incidents to Chief Information Security Office (CISO). Server & Network Administration •Act as the designated application system administrator, who is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting Apache Tomcat web servers in the development, test and production environments. •Responsible for configuring and managing SSL security certificates. •Responsible for installing and configuring the OHM application. •Coordinate and resolve network issues, including network upgrades, with UW Medicine IT Services. •Coordinate and resolve database issues with UW Medicine IT Services. Systems Management •In conjunction with the EHS Manager of Computing and CPH Assistant Director, estimate costs, research, implement, and develop clinical practice management and administrative systems. •Serve as the primary technical liaison with University computing services for the OHM system. •Oversee analysis and monitoring of clinic systems and provide technical assistance for research/recommendations/requests needs or changes. •Participate in evaluating, recommending, and implementing policies and procedures to maintain systems. •Set up secure view-only OHM data sharing with collaborating entities. •Collaborate with new UW Medicine entities using OHM. •Create templates and provide technical support for transferring employee health data. •Collaborate closely with the entity’s technical staff. Other duties •Serve as a technical contact person with UW Medicine affiliated hospitals (SCCA/Fred Hutch and SCH) as well as UWMC-EHC, NWH-EHC and HMC-EHC. •Represent EHC at bi-monthly UW Healthcare Component Compliance Group meetings. •Collaborate and coordinate with OHM partners to consider and evaluate options for a new employee health database system. •Manage, implement, and maintain OHM disaster recovery plans. •Responsible for integrating and implementing the OHM program into the EHS Strategic goals and PNA performance improvement plan. Requirements include: •Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. •Three years of IT and application management experience, especially in a health care setting, including progressively more complex and responsible tasks including: design, development, maintenance, and/or consulting support of clinical application software systems, data conversions, and system interfaces •Ability to write and troubleshoot T-SQL Queries. •Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies. •Demonstrated communications skills and ability to work with personnel of various levels of technical background. •Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and web publishing. •Knowledge of private and public keys and experience working with encrypted files. •Able to work outside normal schedule as required. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. |
