The Department of Public Policy and Administration at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey's Camden campus, invites applications for a full-time tenure track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor for the academic year beginning 9/1/2022.  We are a dynamic, inter-disciplinary department with a diverse student body, on a campus with a strong commitment to engaged civic learning, research and service.  Our programs include an undergraduate major in Urban Studies and Community Development; a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration degree program, with specializations in Public and Nonprofit Management, and Community Development, and an accelerated BA/MPA option; an Executive MPA program for mid-career students with managerial experience; and a Master of Science and Ph.D. program in Public Affairs, with a concentration in Community Development.  

We are searching for candidates whose training, teaching and research interests are primarily in the field Public Administration, and who can contribute to the in-person and online teaching needs in our core MPA curriculum.  Sub-fields of interest include race and social equity; cultural competency, intersectionality and accountability in public management; ethical practices, professional standards, and accountability measures that promote equity, justice, and fairness in public administration; and the role of nonprofit organizations in community development.  Teaching responsibilities include two courses per semester.  Within a supportive department, campus and university environment, the successful candidate is expected to maintain a solid research program leading to high quality publications in refereed journals; to actively engage in professional organizations; advise students and serve on doctoral dissertation committees; to contribute to meeting the teaching needs of our off-campus Executive MPA program; and to perform service to the department, college, and university.
