Accounting Specialist II - Theory & Practice In Teacher EducationRegular, Full-time, Market Range 05 Provide financial, research, and administrative support for the Center for the Enhancement of Education in Math and Science (CEEMS), the department of Theory & Practice in Teacher Education, and Principal Investigators (PIs) of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) focused external grants. Centrally funded position. FINANCIAL: Reconcile grant/center ledgers in accordance with UT policies and procedures. -Evaluate grant/project related requests for purchases of goods or services to ensure that it is allowable, allocable, and within agency guidelines before purchasing or submitting requests for purchases to appropriate department personnel. -Process invoices: verify goods or services were received, charges are accurate, and appropriate account/G/L codes are assigned prior to submitting to other department staff for IRIS entry and payment. -Provide oversight of grant/project related travel requests, travel expense reports, guest travelers, and vendor requests to ensure it is allowable and within agency guidelines. Ensure entry and processing is completed by appropriate department personnel. -Process/complete the Schedule of Final Charges (SFC) and close accounts in close coordination with the Office of Sponsored Project Accounting. Assist PIs with budget planning, budget revisions, project extensions and other needs. Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with compiling and entering data for quarterly, semester, and yearly reporting on projects , grants, etc., as well as responses/reports to campus and outside agencies/offices. - Act as liaison with Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) and the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) to resolve issues as well as close funds in a timely manner. ADMINISTRATIVE: Provide clerical/administrative support to include, but not limited to: creating, editing documents, compiling data for reports and planning purposes or other needs. Provide guidance and direction to faculty and center staff related to policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Assist with the coordination, planning, scheduling, and arranging for events such as workshops, ceremonies, meetings, etc. for the center, VolsTeach, and the department. Responsible for maintaining, safeguarding, and storing documents, information, and files in accordance with policy. Responsible for managing resources such as department copiers, printers, other equipment and supplies in accordance with department and campus policy. Manage utilization of meeting spaces housed in the center and assist with room scheduling requests. Provide academic support for the VolsTeach program/faculty, graduate assistants, and students. Coordinate timetable changes for assigned program area/faculty - compile, prepare, and submit the changes in proper format to the department office each semester. Coordinate/process orders for textbooks, desk copies, books/research materials, classroom supplies for the program/center. Refer faculty/students with issues related to class schedules, course drops/adds etc., to appropriate department personnel.
