The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) provides physician leadership to support design, development, adoption, application, and evaluation of clinical information systems including the electronic health record for the delivery of patient care at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children’s). The CMIO will be responsible for supporting the clinical information needs that enable Lurie Children’s to achieve the strategic and operational goals described in annual and multi-year workplans, serving as the critical bridge to Lurie Children’s clinician end-users, ensuring clinician input in decision making and driving more efficient use of resources. The CMIO chairs the Provider Advisory Council to ensure the needs and requirements of the clinical community are met. The CMIO will promote the use of information technology in the clinical setting to improve safety, quality, patient and family satisfaction, efficiency in delivery of care, and integration. The CMIO is also the Co-Chair of the Community Connect Governance Committee to ensure internal and external programs reflect the needs of the community providers and are aligned. The CMIO will also ensure the use of informatics to support the needs of regulatory compliance. The CMIO will support the integration of clinical and research needs and seek solutions and that support our organizational needs. The position will work in partnership and collaboration with the Lurie Children’s Information Management Department, Center for Quality and Safety, Chief Research Informatics Officer and Clinical Chairs and Division Heads across the organization to fully support, communicate, and educate about initiatives across the enterprise. The CMIO will serve as in integral member in driving adoption and utilization of our clinical systems, developing clinical system roadmaps aligned with our organizational goals, and align the work of our provider builders and power users to these needs. The CMIO will be a member of the faculty of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, based at Lurie Children’s. The physician recruited to this position will spend at least 80% of their time as CMIO and is expected to participate actively in clinical care for the balance of their time. RESPONSIBILITIES
