Location: West Hartford, CT Category: Faculty Posted On: Thu Apr 14 2022 Job Description: The Department of Biology at the University of Saint Joseph invites applications for a 1-year visiting assistant professor starting in August 2022. The growing department serves both undergraduate and graduate biology, health science, and nursing students with a range of interests including healthcare professions, cellular and molecular biomedical research, and environmental/ecological biology. The successful candidate for this position should have experience teaching in higher education with a demonstrated commitment to student success as evidenced by their teaching philosophy and/or pedagogical practices. Course needs for the 2022 - 2023 academic year include Introductory Biology I, Genetics, Microbiology, and Anatomy and Physiology (lectures and/or laboratories in these areas). There may also be an opportunity to teach graduate online courses that complement their background and the current need for graduate offerings in the department. The teaching load for full-time visiting professors is 24 credit hours per year (fall and spring). The Biology Department is committed to innovative teaching practices, equity pedagogy, and active scholarship. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in pedagogy programming through our Teaching and Learning Center. While engaging in student research would not be expected as part of the position, the department would welcome the opportunity to mentor undergraduates if the scope of the project aligned well with the institutional environment.
