Campus Design and Facility Development supports the University Community by designing, constructing and acquiring high quality, innovative and efficient spaces that foster the teaching, learning and research goals of Carnegie Melon's students, faculty and staff. We are in search of an Accounting Specialist. The ideal candidate will have accounting and budget management experience as well as the ability to quickly shift focus and troubleshoot issues. This key role will work within the business operations team to manage many aspects of capital project budgets and associated purchases. Duties will include processing initial purchase orders and revisions, to include both simple and complex purchases, entry into the project management system, gathering and processing of documentation for alignment with university procurement guidelines. This will include documenting competitive bids, identifying approved budget available for purchases, and completing purchasing checklists. The person serving in this role will also assist in monthly reconciliation of overall project portfolio financials, reconciliation of individual project budgets on a rolling basis, tracking and reporting on project progress, and processing fees related to project management. Additional tasks in support of the business operations group will arise and be assigned based on project and department need. May be asked to serve as backup for other accounting tasks and roles to include invoice processing. Core Responsibilities:
