Job OverviewThe College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a Blood Bank Tech in the Components Manufacturing department Medical Education. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities. The Blood Bank Technologist will perform complex laboratory procedures that include preparation of red blood cells platelet concentrates, plasma, and cryoprecipitate; leukocyte reduction; irradiation; freezing and deglycerolizing; preparation of specialized hospital blood products, and processing and shipping samples to testing laboratory. The Candidate must successfully complete an extensive FBI background check as a condition for employment. This position will be trained on first and second shift then assigned to work overnight shift, after training is completed. Essential Functions
