Position Director, Private Equity - Investments

Job Location: Whippany, NJ

The Role: MetLife seeks a Director to join our private equity unit (PEU) managing more than $13 billion of assets on behalf of our general account and affiliated entities. The Director position is a unique opportunity to work directly with senior management in a small, flat investment organization that has generated strong long-term returns for its constituents. MetLife's portfolio is invested globally across a broad range of private equity sub sectors, including private equity (LBOs), venture capital, growth equity, energy, distressed debt, and secondary funds.

• Key Stakeholders: AIC, Legal, ICG

Key Responsibilities:

• Source and track new opportunities with external investment managers; lead the fund due diligence including review of data room, detailed portfolio review and analysis, and fundamental research of portfolio holdings as well working with the legal department on the LPA legal review.
• Lead the preparation of investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
• Meet with existing GP's to receive updates to evaluate investment progress, team/organizational changes, strategy, and to receive updates on the state of the markets and potential investment opportunities.
• Assist in the completion of sector reviews for our Distressed, LBO, Venture Capital, and Energy portfolio segments.
• Analyze and monitor existing portfolio relationships through annual meeting attendance and monitoring of quarterly reports.
• Train and mentor junior staff members.
