Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Health Records Clerk for the New Jersey State Prison located in Trenton, NJ. The Health Records Clerk is responsible and accountable for the maintenance of health records.
Organizes and maintains a system of files and records concerning diagnosis, treatments, admissions, and discharges.
Compiles, verifies, types, and files medical records of inmates within New Jersey Department of Corrections.
Ensures the confidentiality of all medical records information.
Maintains accountability for the location of any medical record on file.
Maintains all files in established systems with all materials properly arranged and affixed within filing material, as received.
Pulls records and performs studies as requested by the Administrator of Nursing Services. Compiles statistical data such as admissions and discharges.
Responds to requests for information from files according to established policies and procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical records.
Familiarity with Problem Oriented Medical Records (SOAP) or similar.
Clerical experience in relational database processes and Microsoft Office Suite.
Special Conditions:
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
