Job Description:

• Generates market-driven, product-driven and customer-driven sales
• Conducts customer needs assessments and develops appropriate training objectives
• Writes proposals and negotiates contracts with clients to deliver the above services
• Researches sources of funding and writes a grant or assists the client in writing a grant, if applicable
• Recruits, interviews and hires vendors/consultants for contracts
• Negotiates contracts with vendors to provide the services
• Monitors vendor performance
• Evaluates and documents performance of the consultant/vendor
• Evaluates effectiveness of training and client satisfaction
• Prospects for new clients; cultivates relationships with current clients
• Works collaboratively within the department to develop and implement an effective, on-going marketing plan.
• Works collaboratively to plan and implement seminars and other special events to advance the objectives of the Custom Training and Continuing Education Division

• Assesses needs through techniques such as focus groups, surveys and questionnaires, interviews, performance data and research
• Develops targeted educational and training programs including the curriculum, course sequencing, identifying prerequisites, designing individual and group skills assessments and determining evaluation criteria and evaluating individual performance and training effectiveness either directly for the client or by coordinating the services of a consultant (vendor).
• Develops educational delivery systems to effectively and innovatively implement training programs.
• Develops a budget for each project or program based on department guidelines.

• Works collaboratively and strategically to link the college to other service providers and economic development partners in the region
• Proactively identifies business, industry and government needs for education and information acquisition and exchange
• Represents the college as a member of state and local professional, technical, civic/service and industry groups
• Partners with business and industry and economic development groups to build partnerships and collaborative workforce development efforts
• Represents the college at trade shows, business expos, seminars, conventions and conferences
• Represents the college through public speaking engagements and presentations to professional, trade, business and civic groups
• Represents the college with state organizations such as DEED, Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, Minnesota Technology, Inc. in training and workforce development programs
• Establishes trainer networks and information clearinghouses on curriculum, trainers and consultants and educational innovations
• Works in collaboration with representatives of colleges and universities in the MinnState system to coordinate curriculum, instructor and facility usage, marketing and training dissemination
• Prepares and publishes narrative and statistical data on successful projects, student placements, evaluation of client and student satisfaction and the impact of training and consulting on business results
• Maintains professional and educational organization memberships necessary to stay current with industry trends and best practices
• Builds consortiums to provide education and information opportunities by combining employees from several small companies or by linking individuals at remote sites

Required Qualifications:

• Experience negotiating vendor/consultant contracts
• Project management experience
• Advanced sales skills including the ability to prospect and make cold calls
• Experience creating marketing strategies
• Computer skills with word-processing and spreadsheet applications in a Windows environment.
