The Research Data Analyst's primary responsibility is to work with the Principal Investigator (PI) on several research projects. The incumbent will help with analyzing large data sets to examine the effects of social and economic policies on health behaviors and outcomes, in collaboration with other team members. This position requires the ability to independently conduct analytic work using the statistical programs Stata or R, and requires expertise with econometric and/or biostatistical techniques. This work involves cleaning and organizing large data sets, carrying out regressions, and creating tables and reports describing the results. The Analyst may also conduct literature reviews on relevant topics in the public health and economics literature. The incumbent will assist in composing research proposals to request data access and to apply for human subject approval. The incumbent will need strong writing and formatting skills to help prepare the results for publication in academic journals. Examples of projects include experience with evaluating the effects of tobacco control or nutrition policies on health behavior, and the effects of poverty alleviation policies on chronic disease. They will involve cleaning, organizing, and analyzing large complex longitudinal geocoded data sets. This includes merging data sets, harmonizing variables, and running regressions using established biostatistical and econometric methods. They will prepare charts, tables, and other visual aids, and assist with the drafting of reports.
