The Technology Support Specialist provides technical support for all computer hardware and software in the Campus. The Technology Support Specialist is responsible to manage the user accounts on the Network. They also manage all network backups and restores.

Responsibilities:

• Installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems.
• Resolves tickets representing staff-generated technical requests or problems and troubleshoots technical and process issues to maintain productivity.
• Maintains system functionality by testing computer components.
• Evaluates vendor-supplied software by studying user objectives and testing software compatibility with existing hardware and programs.
• Installs software and necessary applications for workflow.
• Trains users on new software in person or through a variety of tutorial channels.
• Confirms program objectives and specifications by testing new programs, comparing them with established standards, and making modifications.
• Maintains system capability by testing computer components.
• Carries out software, network, and database performance tuning.
• Documents hardware and software updates.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1 or more years' experience working in IT helpdesk setting.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Networked computers, major software applications such as Microsoft and WordPerfect, and Hewlett-Packard, Canon, and Savin printer software.
• Basic knowledge of networking principles and operating systems.
• Hands-on problem-solving ability.
• Software maintenance and testing capability.
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Strong customer service skills and demonstrated responsiveness to customer needs
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to partner with end users to accomplish objectives
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Microsoft, Certified Novell Administrator (CNA), Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), or related field.
