Location: IU School of Medicine Department: IUSM - Surgery - General Campus: IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Announcement: The Department of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking a board-certified general, surgical oncology, or acute care/trauma surgeon to lead as the Program Director for its General Surgery Residency Training Program, a large, well-established ACGME-accredited training program with national recognition for innovation in surgical education. Candidates would join a department of 130 dedicated faculty members with representation of all surgical specialties. The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for surgical education, teaching, and collaborating with our established surgical education team. The Residency Program Director has responsibility, authority and accountability for the operations of the General Surgery Residency program, including compliance with all requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and with the Indiana University School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education. Candidates for Program Director must have completed an ACGME-Accredited General Surgery Residency, be ABS board certified in General Surgery and possess requisite clinical, educational and administrative experience beyond residency training. The Program Director reports directly to the Department Chair of Surgery and the Vice Chair of Education. The position maintains accountability for compliance with policies and procedures including, but not limited to resident recruitment and selection, duty hours, evaluation and promotion of residents, supervision of residents, and disciplinary action. The position also serves as the primary advocate for residents in compliance with Department of Surgery and Indiana University School of Medicine programs and policies.
