Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Coding and Billing Optimization of the Department of Neurological Surgery, the Associate Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for daily management of the revenue cycle team dedicated to billing and collections. Position will be responsible for the coordination and management of all revenue cycle functions to optimized and maximized collections. This role will include working and collecting on unpaid professional medical claims government and all third-party payers, self-pay, co-pays, and deductibles. The Associate Director of Revenue Cycle will be responsible for auditing staff, and ensuring productivity goals are met within compliance, following payor policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily management of a team dedicated to billing and collection for billable services by Neurosurgery providers, including the delegation of tasks and duties among staff.
• Organizes and directs staff to maximize efficiency of open accounts receivables. Monitors the quality of work performed and ensure assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner.
• Evaluate daily workflow effectiveness; assess the need for new tasks or functions.
• Evaluate workflow inventory in work queues for prioritizing work activities to minimize time and cost to collect. 
• Prioritize and review claims requested to be adjusted by A/R team.
• Seek to be pro-active with process improvement; implement Account Receivable activities efficiently and provide strategic plans for productivity improvement.
• Implement best practices to manage receivables, reduce rejections, denials, and improve collection of delinquent accounts.
• Reports the status of Accounts Receivable activities with respect to staffing, work tools, reports, potential problems, changes and requirements to senior leadership.
• Perform analytics and identifies trends to minimize denials and implement strategies to accelerate and improve cash flow and to manage the overall health of the receivables.
• Meets regularly with Senior leadership team to review charges, collection, adjustments, and denial trends related to charge capture and billing.
• Assists the management in developing, implementing, and revising departmental policies and procedures.
• Evaluate staff performance, provide timely feedback and corrective personnel action when appropriate, utilizing appropriate human resource policies and procedures.
• Provide staff with necessary training and feedback to enhance the staffs work performance.
• Initiate and work with FEND Team to appropriately collect of payment(s) i.e., deductibles, copays from patients before leaving the Medical office.
• Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of billing and collection in both governmental and non-governmental third-party payer environment.
• Work collaboratively with clinical departments to establish effective communications to further the efficiency of the revenue cycle process.
• Assist in determining solutions to problems created by changes in payor environment.
• Performs other revenue cycle tasks as required and assigned including, but not limited to, job functions in all AR follow up and Customer Service Units.
• Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, Billing Compliance and safety policies and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience 
• Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) required
