This position is responsible for managing the financial and accounting functions of the University at Buffalo Foundation and its affiliated corporations (UBF) having total assets in excess of $1.3 billion and the administration of annual revenues that range from $150-250 million. Areas of responsibility include accounting, reconciling, budget development and tracking, capital expenditures and debt financing.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial operations of UBF, including accounts, ledgers, financial software and reporting systems ensuring policies and procedures are in compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Serve as key member of the senior management team, representing UBF's finance and accounting initiatives at UB, and serving as a key liaison between campus business unit officers and UBF.

Maintain relationships with other key university personnel in the offices of the President, Provost, Finance and Administration, and Human Resources, as well as leadership of schools and units.

Oversee the performance of the total financial services function and financial office administration for UBF, and seven affiliated corporations.

Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of UBF's financial status.

Coordinate all aspects of the financial services operation to allow for timely monthly and annual fiscal general ledger closings and reports.

Develop plans to address areas of opportunity within the organization's financial health and financial processes.

Keep up with current technology and recommend changes to processes to streamline activities, improve efficiency, and promote customer service.

Serve as a key liaison with committees of the Board of Trustees, reporting on the financial health of the enterprise.

Manage the staff responsible for the general ledger, financial analysis and reporting and non-payroll and payroll expenditure activities of the Foundation.

CPA or Master's degree in business, management or related field required.
Five or more years' experience in not-for-profit administration/management.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, especially as they relate to a not-for-profit organization.
Knowledge of applicable regulations/policies/reporting related to not-for-profits.
Proven effectiveness leading professionals in finance and accounting.
Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite.

Previous experience in public higher education.
