Job Summary:
Owensboro Community and Technical College is hiring a full-time, 12 month, Computer and Information Technologies Instructor in the Manufacturing and Skilled Trades Department. This position reports directly to Department Head within Academic Affairs. Primary teaching assignments will include a variety of courses in the study of computer science and information technology with a focus on Cybersecurity/Networking OR on Programming.

  • Web Design (HTML/CSS, JavaScript)
  • various programming languages at the freshman & sophomore level (such as Python, Java, C++, C#, SQL)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide instruction using a variety of methods: in-person, online, hybrid, evenings.
• Maintain an awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and issues in the field.
• Collaborate with business and industry for short-term training needs, curriculum alignment, program advisement, and reporting/assessing student achievement.
• Provide academic advising and career-related counseling for students.
• Engage in recruitment and retention activities through programming at secondary schools, community partners, and professional organizations; with a concentrated focus on the adult learner population.
• Participate in faculty professional development activities to include employer sponsored training.
• Serve as a Faculty Advisor for Cyber Club (CIT student group).

Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, working with a diverse population, and the community and technical college mission.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Network Information Systems, Network Administration, or the equivalent. Example, Associate degree with eight (8) years of applicable work experience.
• Master's Degree with at least 18 hours in an information technology related field is preferred.
• Experience with Cybersecurity/Networking background is preferred. Experience with Cisco networking equipment, cybersecurity field, and industry standard certifications (A+, Net+, Security+, CCNA, Microsoft certifications, etc.).
• Experience with Programming background is preferred. Experience as programmer/coder, and industry standard certifications.
