HMC Hospital Security is actively recruiting for a full-time DIRECTOR. This position provides Director-level leadership in security services. Position Complexities: Provides Director level leadership over Security Services. Leadership: Promotes organizational philosophy, values and pillar goals Supports Patients Are First leadership strategies Models Service Culture Guidelines in daily practice Leads in establishing guiding principles and expectations regarding security, risks, and responses Leads HMC’s workplace violence prevention program Accountable for unit/department’s service priorities, service excellence and goal success Oversees the Security Management Plan, assesses, and makes changes to improve Conduct annual or as needed risk assessments for physical security; workplace violence, and the security programs Ensures departmental compliance with JCAHDOH. Provides leadership and training to appropriate work teams and individuals Delegates assignments/duties/committees to appropriate individuals/groups Is a liaison and representative for HMC with public and private agencies such as King County Jail, DOD and SPD Collaborates with other entities within UW Medicine Provides input into capital and operational budgets Routinely monitors, manages, and controls assigned budgets, reporting variances as appropriate Anticipates and works with Assistant Administrator on variances that will affect budget Analyzes pertinent data and develops reports Maintains final approval for unit/department payroll Maintains leader accessibility, response, and follow-through on all shifts and weekends Physical Security Systems: Ensures that physical security systems such as access control and surveillance systems support Security Service purposes and response strategies Oversees the management of physical security systems Oversees processes and controls for conducting back-ground checks Manages systems and information in a manner that facilitates compliance with regulatory requirements Provides leadership in seeking and implementing new strategies for managing information Protocols for Security to ensure Health, Safety, and Response to Emergencies Leads in ensuring Security Services support goals for health, safety, and emergency response Manages, controls, and routinely monitors operations to meet standards Facilitates training of staff to ensure safety of staff, patients, families and visitors Responds to emergencies efficiently and effectively Sets reasonable short and long- term improvement goals and plans that align with the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic goals Defines and uses customer satisfaction data and input Personnel Management: Coaches and develops staff to achieve a high level of competency and customer service Hires based on behavioral interviewing techniques for right person to right role Maintains current employee annual evaluations Provides a range of mechanisms for staff to communicate, provide feedback, and make suggestions Values the benefits realized from a diverse workforce Maintains appropriate staffing to fulfill service priorities Maintains quality labor relations through knowledge, skill, and respect Maintains all necessary paperwork (personnel files, leave records, etc.) for unit/departmental employees Position Dimensions and Impact to the University: This position provides Director level leadership, and reports to and advice UW Medicine Chief Security Officer in regards to Security Personnel, policies, plans and complexities at the entity level along with as part of the Emergency Operations Center for HMC. Position Responsibilities: 50% Administrative Oversight and Leadership Leads, establishes standards, and maintains accountability for service priorities, service excellence and goal success. Administrative oversight for 72 staff. Specific duties include: Oversee development operating budget/finances both revenue and expenses for 1 cost center at HMC. 30% Financial and Resource Management Develops annual budgets (exceeds $7.7M in expenses annually). Develops strategies, metrics, and controls to optimize use of labor and other resources. Analyzes and balances workloads. 10% Personnel Management Oversees an effective workforce of over 72 staff that is skilled and works towards HMC Pillar Goals, Patients First. Directly supervises 5 staff including Director, managers, and office support. Implements effective training programs and annual performance evaluations tools to ensure effectiveness of staff. 10% Safety, Health, and Response to Emergencies Provides leadership oversight of all regulatory functions for the department this position oversees into medical center programs that address safety and health, and directs operations to meet standards. Maintains effective response protocols for emergencies for HMC. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business/Healthcare/Criminal Justice or equivalent experience. 5 years’ experience in security services/Public Safety leadership role; Advance training or experience with technical elements including physical security systems; security dispatch operations; security protocols and training; and team supervision; demonstrated leadership in advancing best practices in a healthcare environment. Desired Skills: Master's level preparation in Business and/or Healthcare highly desired/; experience in an urban healthcare environment; experience in a unionized environment. |
