Under the direct supervision of the CA Notify Project Director, the position serves as the Research Data Analyst within the California Depatment of Public Health's California Connected COVID-19 Contact Tracing Program (California Connected). The Research Data Analyst will provide analytical support for the monitoring and evaluation of the CA Notify Exposure Notification project as well as comparative analysis with the broader CA COVID-19 Contact Tracing Program, aka California Connected. In this role, the /Research Data Analyst performs epidemiologic analyses that involve large datasets, or linkage of multiple datasets, building and automating data pipelines, and programming and comparing complex matching algorithms. The Research Data Analyst builds routine reporting mechanisms such as dashboards on trend analyses, descriptive statistics, and interactive geographic data displays for CA Notify. The position collaborates with program staff to understand the implications of analyses and to ensure that findings are actionable and support data-driven program, policy, and operational decision-making regarding CA Notify and contact tracing efforts in CA.

In addition to contact tracing data systems (CalCONNECT), he/she everages other data sources such as Exposure Notification Population Analytics (ENPA, opt-in app analytics), the Exposure Notification (EN) COVID-19 Verification Server, as well as stand-alone surveys to help depict the program adoption, utilization, and effectiveness. In this role, he/she will also provide technical support from the state project to data scientists and mathematical modeler partners at the University of California San Diego.
