About the DepartmentThe Bearcat Bands, a unit of the Division of Student Affairs, is a comprehensive campus band program providing educational opportunities, artistic expression, and leadership development programs to students through music. Ensembles of the Bearcat Bands include the spirit band program (Marching Band and multiple Basketball Bands), multiple Concert Bands, Jazz Ensembles, various Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion Ensembles, beginning instrumental lessons, and various educational clinics. Bearcat Bands membership is open to every enrolled student at the University of Cincinnati, including all satellite campuses, as well as students attending Greater Cincinnati Collegiate connection schools. Participation in the program is by placement audition. The Bearcat Bands provides opportunities for everyone: those with considerable experience, those with none, and those in between. Our mission is to provide access to musical excellence and create an educated, informed citizenry deeply connected to their humanity. Job OverviewUnder general supervision from the Associate Director of Bearcat Bands, the Assistant Director will guide and oversee the operational and instructional activities of the Bearcat Bands visual ensembles (Color Guard and Feature Twirlers) and contribute to the overall activities of the unit. Essential Functions
Required Education
Required ExperienceExperience must include musical directing. Additional Qualifications ConsideredPerforming experience in outdoor and/or indoor competitive pageantry ensembles with emphasis in Color Guard.
