Duties & Responsibilities:

1). Operations of IMATS and Sloate Media Center

• Manage videography services: train part-time videography staff, field videography requests, help consult and set-up for VIP events, staff videography services when necessary, and complete final edits when necessary. Work closely with campus partners in AV and Events to ensure smooth videography services operations.
• Staff workflow: under the direction of the Senior Associate Director, help with the hiring process, scheduling, and training of undergraduate student and graduate student videographers.
• Equipment management: assess and evaluate equipment trends, and advise on equipment ordering. Test equipment, manage spreadsheets, and work with WebCheckout to assist with equipment inventories in the Media Center Production Studio, Post-Production Lab and IMATS equipment room inventory processes as needed. Manage and coordinate check-outs of advanced production equipment from the Studio by EFMP Students and qualified staff-- including coordinating the creation and tracking of WebCheckout reservations, testing equipment, etc.
• Event support: help with coordinating Media Center programming and initiatives such as the Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program and Feminist Film Screening Series.

2). Instruction

• Plan and provide workshops for Barnard community (for courses and open to public) on tools such as (but not limited to) video production, video editing, digital photography, graphics software, audio production, podcasting, audio editing, Adobe Suite, screenwriting.
• Create training materials / guides, as needed, on how to use a range of media equipment and software for websites and courses.

3). Communications for IMATS and Sloate Media Center

• Manage social media accounts across IMATS and Sloate Media Center.
• Craft, curate, and distribute newsletter content.
• Project manage timelines for events / workshops communications, such as flier creation and distribution, and web promotion.
• Field e-mail inquiries to the Media Center and IMATS.

• Highly organized with a strong record of working independently, meeting deadlines, and attention to detail

• Ability to work effectively using tact, diplomacy, and a supportive attitude with diverse groups of people in a variety of circumstances

• Ability to understand complex topics, and create innovative and clear ways to present the information to an audience

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

• Knowledge of video recording & post-production techniques

• Ability & willingness to work weekends & evenings on rare occasions

• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff and various constituents

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, film production, or related field.

• Minimum of three years of related experience

• Demonstrated studio and field production experience

• Experience with Adobe Suite and other post-production software

• Experience with HD and DSLR cameras, wired and wireless microphones, lighting, backdrops, and related production equipment

• Experience with teaching, education, higher education, or other forms of instruction

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with video production in educational, research, or non-profit settings

• Experience creating schedules, and organizing/distributing workflow

• Graduate level degree or additional coursework completion or training in film, education, media, or communications field

Physical Requirements:

• Physically able to lift and carry production equipment and materials

• Ability to perform customary office tasks such as sitting, walking, standing, computing, and answering telephone for moderate to prolonged periods of time
