The Carbone Lab at the Oregon Health & Science University invites applications for a Research Data Analyst 1 position.

Function/Duties of Position

The Data Analyst will work under supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and a computational staff scientist to contribute to a newly funded project that aims to generate epigenetic maps from non-human primates during development. This includes performing bioinformatic analysis of next generation sequence data from Hi-C, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and RNA-seq, using established pipelines and/or open source software. Specific responsibilities include:

• Analyze data that will be generated through funded U24project
• Linux system and website administration
• Participate in meetings

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience in bioinformatics analysis, including analysis of next-generation sequencing data; OR Master's degree in relevant field
• Proficiency in Linux
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both written and oral formats
• Ability to work both independently and in a small group setting, and one-on-one with collaborators in a positive and productive manner
• Demonstrated independence and competence to perform data management and analysis of research finding, including use of spreadsheets, graphics and statistical programs
• Ability to prioritize work demands, and coordinate research protocols with other staff
• Strong attention to detail with skills in quality control and review of data skills
• High level of self-motivation and integrity

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Bioinformatics
• Experience with epigenetics data analysis
• Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl, C)
