The Campus Controller’s Office (CCO) provides critical support to the mission by ensuring fiscal responsibility, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with laws, regulations, policies/procedures, and contract requirements. Financial Systems and Reporting operates under the direction of the Campus Controller and is responsible for modernizing and maintaining CU Boulder’s financial systems and reporting to support sound fiscal management, streamlined administrative processes, and innovative solutions for compliance.
The Director of Financial Systems and Reporting reports directly to the Campus Controller and serves on the leadership team for the Deputy CFO/Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance. This role collaborates directly with, department chairs and deans as well as university administration. The Director is responsible for strategic planning and implementation while ensuring day-to-day operational excellence.
The Director of Financial Systems and Reporting provides timely and accurate financial reports to campus management, and for the university's annual financial reports. This includes overseeing campus financial audits, implementation of new reporting standards and guidance, federal and state reporting, and tax reporting and compliance. The position is responsible for ensuring that transactions are in accordance with GAAP, State, Federal and private agency procedures and restrictions, and university rules and regulations. The Director also oversees financial system updates, implementations and related processes that impact both central and decentralized campus departments. They lead business analytics and project management to implement a variety of financial and technical solutions for CCO and campus partners.

• Develop and lead the Boulder campus financial reporting strategy which includes determining appropriate reporting tools, data management, and the prioritization of campus reporting needs.
• Determine reporting needs for executive leadership and campus partners. Ensure financial information is developed for diverse audiences including executive leadership, external reporting agencies, and campus constituents. This may include presentations, narratives, and graphics. Financial information should be easily consumable by the audience which requires reports ranging from high level summaries to detailed transactions.
• Direct the preparation of annual audit work papers, financial statements, exhibits and footnotes, and various reports due to sponsoring agencies. Represent the Boulder campus for financial reporting decisions and recommendations.
• Lead the development, review, and analysis for ad hoc, monthly, and annual financial reports. Work with the General Accounting team, the Budget Office, and Capital Finance to consolidate and provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis to executive leadership. This includes metrics, trend analysis, and compliance and diagnostic reporting.
• Provide oversite for the campus tax reporting and ensure compliance with non-payroll related state and federal tax law including, but not limited to: Sales tax; Unrelated Business Income; and, Excise tax.
• Direct the non-sponsored financial state and federal financial reporting including reconciling the campus financial data with the state financial system (CORE) and other ad hoc external reporting as necessary.
• Work with the system-wide Office of the University Controller and other campus controllers to develop and lead the implementation strategy for new financial reporting guidance including new GASB’s, state, federal, and other reporting requirements on behalf of the Boulder campus.
• Partner with the CCO leadership team in the year-end audit process.
  Technology (tech requirements and system upgrades)
• Develop and coordinate the implementation for CCO’s Technology Master Plan. Develop strategies to operationalize the long-term vision for financial reporting and systems for the Boulder campus.
• Work with CCO and CU colleagues to identify and prioritize technology needs and serve as the project lead for new system implementations, upgrades, or other solutions.
• Lead CCO and the Boulder campus through various existing system upgrades, including PeopleSoft Finance and eRA (InfoEd). Identify and document impacts and business process changes required for future module implementations and upgrades. Partner with campus and CU System colleagues for successful resolution.
• Provide oversight to change management efforts and the development of campus training for new systems, ensuring that CCO provides the support needed by the campus community.
• Actively manage technology for CCO and campus where applicable.
• Represent the CCO and the Boulder campus at various meetings held by central university offices and provide feedback from the staff to the team leader to ensure the successful implementation of enhancements.
• Represent CCO’s needs to Office of the University Controller or University Information Systems for development and testing of new CU-Data or PeopleSoft FIN reports to increase the efficiency of the unit.
  Process Excellence (business analytics, identifying, improving, maintaining processes, including metrics)
• Collaborate with campus partners to identify and prioritize those processes requiring streamlining efforts and potential solutions.
• Provide oversight and lead business process re-engineering efforts. Provide business analytics, using metrics and data to identify gaps and inefficiencies in current processes.
• Implement and manage various projects within CCO and throughout the Boulder campus. This includes, but is not limited to solution development, resource allocation and implementation. Direct the change management process for new procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with the Office of the University Controller and other campus controllers to implement new procedures or solutions that impact all CU campuses.
  University Satisfaction (engaging with campus staff)
• Increase engagement opportunities with university stakeholders.
• Create, track, and share various metrics to campus and other external entities.
• Build and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with peers across campus and the university system to ensure services to CCO’s clients are effective and provide exceptional customer service, particularly when processes involve multiple offices.
• Partner with CCO colleagues to lead or direct town hall-type meetings to disseminate information regarding new software implementation, process changes, and policy to the campus community.
• Develop long-term goals and objectives and establish benchmarks to measure progress.

What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $155 ,000 per year and is commensurate with experience.
 Additional Compensation Details: 
 There will be a $15,000 one-time signing bonus following the completion of the employee's first year. If one full year is not complete, this amount will need to be refunded.
