Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Dean of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer or designee, the Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing and testing computer programs. Duties & Responsibilities: 1.Develop, code, document, test and debug new systems or adapt existing systems to improve production and workflow. 2.Conduct special studies pertaining to the development of new information systems to meet current and projected needs. 3.Maintain system documentation in terms of program usage, function, logic and operating instructions. 4.Identify, resolve and respond promptly to system operating problems. 5.Analyze and research simple to moderately complex Banner system problems. 6.Plan and create simple validation test plans for Banner system sub-modules. 7.Plan and prepare instruction manuals relating to the establishment and functioning of operational systems. 8.Implement security procedures to protect hardware and software. 9.Provide in-service training and seminars for users. 10.Expected to handle and/or manage sensitive information and, as such, strict confidentiality must be adhered to at all times. 11.Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student and staff records. 12.Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required. 13.Perform other related duties as required. Minimum Experience: 1.Bachelor's degree. 2.Ability to design and develop advanced applications in Adobe Flex. 3.Demonstrated experience in program development. 4.Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize assignments and to exercise good judgment at all times with minimal supervision. 5.Excellent interpersonal skills. 6.Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 7.Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree Preferred Experience: 1.Master's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related area. 2.Two or more years experience in Oracle Database, PL/SQL, Oracle Developer Suite 10g, HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, XML, XSL, JSP, J2EE, Adobe Flex, Unix and Linux. 3.Demonstrated knowledge of computerized record maintenance and management systems, preferably the Banner system. 4.Demonstrated ability to support the Banner system. 5.Demonstrated ability to write scripts
