The Utilities Production section of the Energy and Sustainability department operates the University's combined cycle gas turbine plant on a 24-hour, 365 day per year basis. Production facilities include a combined heat and power facility which provides both the steam for heat and electricity for campus, and two chilled water production facilities. All of the water for campus is provided by a university owned potable water filtration plant. Electricity from the local utility is fed through a university owned electric substation. Utilities is also responsible for all of the distribution and collection systems located on campus including steam, chilled water, electricity, potable water and wastewater.
This position is responsible for providing a lead operation and maintenance role of the University's Water Filtration Plant, including responsibilities associated with direct operation and maintenance of the water filtration plant. In conjunction with the Water Filter Plant Manager, this position is responsible in a lead role for water quality, production, laboratory analysis, record keeping and administration, equipment maintenance and distribution of potable water in a continuous supply to the entire campus.
This position collaborates with WFP Manager regarding the update of standard operating procedures and various mission critical databases needed for regulatory compliance. Active engagement with University stakeholders, which includes direct involvement with the Fall Creek Watershed group, students, faculty, and multi-departmental staff. This position interacts with vendors, contractors, the Cornell community, and customers on potable water related issues. This work may be performed on a shift basis, depending on the business needs of the University.
