IRC BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. Founded in 1933, the IRC is at work today in more than 40 countries and in 26 U.S. cities. The IRC’s Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) department creates opportunities for refugees and other vulnerable migrants to survive and thrive in the US. RAI serves over 50,000 individuals each year in the US through a diverse portfolio of programs aimed at achieving outcomes in five impact areas: Health, Safety, Economic Wellbeing, Education, and Power. JOB OVERVIEW: IRC seeks a Legal Services Director to provide vision, strategy, and leadership to immigration legal services programs across IRC’s Arizona offices in Phoenix and Tucson. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) works with people devastated by conflict and disaster in the outcome areas of health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power. The IRC has provided more than 15,000 clients with refugee resettlement services since 1994 as well as extended services to other immigrant populations including asylum seekers, trafficking victims, survivors of torture, victims of crime, humanitarian parolees (Afghan, Cuban, Haitian), and others. The IRC in Phoenix has been providing immigration services for more than 20 years. The bulk of this work has been focused on core services before USCIS, such as naturalization, family reunification, adjustment of status, and employment authorization through U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representatives. The IRC responded to the increased need for legal services by launching the IRC Arizona’s Legal Center in 2020 which expanded services to provide removal defense, affirmative asylum, and other forms of immigration relief. IRC’s expanded legal services allows IRC to provide support to the immigrant community despite the ever-changing nature of immigration law and policy. The Legal Services Director will ensure the delivery of high-quality and impactful immigration legal services programs through direct supervision of program managers and leads.
