The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a 9th Grade Global History Head Teacher. This is a full-time, 10-month position for the 2023-2024 school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Plan curriculum, lessons, and assignments/projects that reflect a diversity of voices and points of view
Collaborate with and mentor assistant teacher
Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
Break down/scaffolding of in-class assignments and projects
Grade student work and participation
Track student’s work and progress
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
Qualifications
MA in the content area and/or education, and classroom experience teaching in high school
Experience building positive appropriate relationships with teens
Knowledge of, or experience with, learning disabilities
Experience with Smartboards, google drive, and technology in the classroom
Possess patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
Patience, team player, and a good sense of humor
New York State Certification and the ability to meet professional standards of the teaching profession
A desire to contribute to the school’s professional learning community.
Compensation
$57-85K commensurate with experience
