Job Summary Monday - Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM Radiology - Senior Image Service Representative 1. Establishes relationships nationally and internationally with technicians, clinicians and researchers at client and partner healthcare facilities to coordinate electronic file transfer of medical images for emergent and routine patient care. 2. Receives, prioritizes and responds to requests for patient film/digital image records in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Accesses hospital and departmental information systems to track and locate film/digital image files and creates logs and codes files as needed. Retrieves and delivers films/digital images to designated locations within department and throughout Hospital. 3. Prepares and digitally converts images for viewing by staff physician or customer. Retrieves requested patient files, completes required logs and records, and digitally converts when necessary. Train others on the use of digitizer and PACS cube functionality. 4. Receives and responds to routine and urgent inquiries regarding status and location of missing files and digital images. Researches manual and computer records to locate and retrieve requested files and digital images for physicians, parents/patients and other hospital and departmental staff. Investigates and resolves image tracking and location issues and problems, recommending possible solutions and referring unusual or sensitive matters to supervisor. 5. Answers, screens and routes telephone calls and greets and directs patients/parents, physicians and other hospital staff. Responds to requests for routine information and assistance, referring callers to appropriate personnel or location as needed. Receives and records digital image requests, provides basic information on radiologic procedures and reads radiology report results to callers as appropriate. 6. Troubleshoots connection issues with participating imaging providers including hospitals, private practices and patients. Follows established escalation protocol. 7. Supports ongoing and new research studies. Partners with representatives at other medical centers and clinical research organizations to establish accounts and develop and maintain file transfer protocols in support of collaborative research studies. 8. Adhere to government rules on release of medical information. Follows Joint Commission, HIPAA and department/hospital policies on release of information. Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required 1. A high school level of educational development and one to two years' experience is required. 2. Working knowledge of computers, medical imaging and electronic medical record (EMR) software is required. Analytical skills and judgment to interpret data and take the appropriate action in circumstances or situations, which are relatively routine are required. 3. The ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions is required. 4. An understanding of basic human anatomy is requred.
