Harvard Medical School's Office for External Education (OEE) provides broad access to a breadth of learners, including current and aspiring healthcare professionals; leaders at all levels within companies that serve the healthcare industry; and individuals seeking to live healthier lives. OEE programs, products, and content created by our 12,000-member faculty, draw upon firsthand clinical insights based on their breakthrough research and best practices.
OEE is a rapidly growing business with multiple business lines, 14+ orgs, a staff of ~150, and over 400 programs delivered in multiple means (live, live-virtual, online, blended) across the globe. Revenues are generated through B2B and B2C relationships, as well as grant and gift funding.
Job Summary: Independently perform diverse financial analyses and assist the department with financial planning efforts, budgeting, and monthly/quarterly reporting.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts (quarterly, annual, and multi-year) to facilitate business growth; responsible for a portfolio of units.
Provide analytical and quantitative analysis to support decisions related to the preparation of the annual budget, mid-year forecasts, and multi-year financial plans.
Analyze financial data to identify potential risks and issues. Present data, both quantitative and qualitative, in a way that is meaningful and beneficial to departments and colleagues.
Work independently to review, interpret and communicate financial results, including researching and resolving issues and variances, escalating as needed.
Typical Core Duties:
Conduct complex financial analyses and update financial models and projections.
Assist in the development and analysis of KPIs and metrics that drive business insight and ensure financial controls.
Provide technical advice and problem resolution for the department.
Develop financial models and projections for units and programs.
Develop and produce standard and ad-hoc financial reporting for the department.
Design and deliver presentations that educate leadership on key financial issues.
Implement and develop best practices for systems and reporting solutions.
Monitor and report on active gift and grant awards, communicating to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
Other:
Develop, support, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Ensure financial compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred
Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large sets of data
Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver exceptional customer service
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize critical requests in a fast-paced environment
Works independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision
Grants experience preferred but not required
Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office suite applications
