Montgomery College, Takoma Park /Silver Spring Campus, is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty member to fill a position starting August 2023. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. The program is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment and will welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. Faculty duties include online and classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising, professional inquiry, committee work and utilizing instructional technology. The majority of our courses use open educational resources (OERs) to yield cost savings for the students and the most current content for faculty. Incoming faculty will utilize OERs in alignment with the other faculty in the discipline.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has three campuses and instructs courses at area high schools. Faculty may be assigned to any of these campuses and/or teaching online.

Job Description

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teach a variety of didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year, and the teaching schedule will include opportunities to teach during the summer.
• Provide support to program and clinical coordinator as needed
• Participate in preparing for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS) annual report, self- study report and site visit
• Participate in discipline related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment
• Serve on department, campus, and college committees
• Participate in course development, instruction, and evaluation
• Participate in academic advising and ongoing professional development

Additional Information:

• A candidate on Optional Practical Training (OPT) is not eligible for this position.
• A candidate with an international degree is required to have an U.S. degree equivalency prior to application

Required Qualifications:

• Must hold an associate degree, from a JRCDMS accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
• Eligible applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline
• Two years clinical experience in the professional discipline as a credentialed Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
• Current or previous (within the last three years) experience working with students in a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program in a clinical setting
• At least two years teaching experience in a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
• Must hold current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) credential, or equivalent
• Applicants must be able to travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites affiliated with the program
• Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools
• Able to utilize the computer for internet access and software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc) navigation.
• Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• ARDMS registered or equivalent
• A Master's Degree in any discipline.

Hiring Range: $62,319 to $91,218.
