Description:

The College of Engineering is seeking a Server Administrator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

This position serves as the system administrator for instructional and research Windows servers in the College of Engineering and collaborates with other technical staff to provide Windows servers and services that both serve the College and distinctive needs of individual departments. The incumbent is responsible for Windows server design, implementation, documentation, configuration, and upkeep within the College of Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to research or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or field related to assigned responsibilities. Professional Certification pertaining to position may be required.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or MIS-related area and a minimum of six years of IT experience working in a medium to large environment.
  • Demonstrated increasing responsibility managing Windows server OS, including Active Directory, Group policy management, management of accounts, shared software resources, and Windows security.
  • Experience with installation and integration of Windows desktop OS in an Active Directory environment.
  • Experience with VBScript, PowerShell, and WMI, including the ability to use Windows scripting languages to automate tasks.
  • Experience managing SQL servers, preferably Microsoft SQL, including installation of SQL server, backing up database, and account management.
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written, that demonstrate an ability to communicate about issues and projects via email to non-technical users, to provide face-to-face help to users, and to communicate with technical as well as non-technical staff in group settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve independently and self-direct as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and to manage teams of workers.
  • Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity


This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions.

Type:

  • Standard office, plus some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • The ability to lift and carry computers and equipment weight up to 40 pounds is required.
  • This position is based on the OSU Corvallis Campus and requires a regular on-site presence. Some work may be performed via telecommuting as agreed upon between incumbent and supervisor.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with skills, education and experience.
