Job Description:
What We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to support Baylor University as the Assistant Director of Student Accounting and Billing. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in reconciling and ensuring the integrity of financial data in student accounts. A proven leader, the candidate must demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities, exhibit a sense of urgency, and possess proactive problem-solving skills.

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Accounting, Finance, or related discipline), three years of relevant work experience and an active Christian faith are required. Five years of relevant work experience is preferred.

Additional Qualifications
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining student accounting and billing systems.
  • Familiarity with payment plan setup, PayPath, and automation of data transfer between systems.
  • Previous experience in creating and developing Banner jobs and maintaining scheduler in Automic.
  • Knowledge of operational calendars and adherence to critical timelines.
  • Ability to investigate variances and address discrepancies in financial activity.
  • A commitment to enhancing departmental efficiency and contributing to a seamless student experience.

A hybrid work arrangement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

Accounting and Reconciling
  • Perform comprehensive reconciliations between the general ledger and actual student account activity in the student system, ensuring utmost accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Regularly prepare and reconcile journal entries for all student accounts-related activities, meticulously documenting transactions in compliance with accounting principles.
  • Conduct detailed reconciliations across various subledger systems and the general ledger, encompassing critical areas such as loan repayments, meal plan/dining dollars, Follett Bookstore fees, and athletics department allocations.
  • Foster close collaboration with the Central Finance and Budget teams to investigate and analyze variances in financial activity, providing valuable insights and proactive recommendations for swift resolution.
  • Compile and generate daily reports on financial activity, carefully reconciling payments received with Banner activity to maintain consistent and error-free records.

System Infrastructure and Set Up
  • Utilize expertise in the Banner ERP student system to create, develop, and optimize efficiencies for Student Billing. This includes updating rate rules for each term, designing automated processes for drop and withdrawal refunds, meal plans, and optional charges.
  • Take charge of the configuration, development, and maintenance of TouchNet eBill system, including setting up payment plans, integrating PayPath functionality, automating authorized user access to Banner, and employing host codes for seamless data transfer between TouchNet and Banner.
  • Play an instrumental role in the creation and development of Banner jobs, as well as the maintenance of the scheduler in Automic. This will ensure smooth execution of crucial tasks and processes, enhancing overall system performance and reliability.

Technical and Report Writing
  • Utilize expertise in writing advanced PL/SQL to effectively support Banner activity, enabling smooth data retrieval and reconciliation from multiple systems, or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and improve SQL proficiency, enabling efficient data retrieval and analysis from various databases to support reconciliation and reporting tasks.
  • Showcase advanced Excel skills to effectively manipulate, analyze, and present financial data, contributing to accurate and insightful reports for decision-making purposes.
  • Utilize Power BI to create informative and visually engaging dashboards, which can be utilized for demonstrations and modeling of Student Accounts related activity, enhancing decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT team to automate operations and efficiently post data to both Banner Production and Test environments, ensuring accurate and timely updates to critical systems

General
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
