Summary and Scope of Position:

The Associate Director of Student Conduct is a staff member who provides direct support for the administration of the college’s Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct, and all policies, procedures, and prevention efforts pertaining to student behavior. The Associate Director provides training for campus partners including Residence Life, Campus Safety, and hearing panel members who assist in the decisions of policy violations. This position works collaboratively with students, faculty, and administration in partnership with the Associate Dean of Students to address behavior-related concerns on and off campus. This position is eligible for on-campus housing if it is part of the leadership on-call rotation.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Serves as the primary hearing officer for non-academic administrative student conduct cases.
• Coordinates communication in all administrative conduct cases.
• Coordinates Care Team Referrals and case management
• Assists in the implementation and evaluation of the college’s Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures and prevention efforts pertaining to student behavior.
• Conducts ongoing reviews of the Student Code of Conduct involving key campus constituencies including faculty, staff, and students.
• Leads investigations for high-level or complex incidents, including collaborating with Campus Safety in camera review, interviewing involved parties, and drafting investigative reports.
• Provides ongoing training and assistance to campus partners including RAs, Campus Safety, and hearing officers about their roles in enforcement and adjudication of the Student Code of Conduct.
• Collaborates with colleagues to provide educational resources for students on the Student Code of Conduct.
• Maintains effective partnerships with key departments including, but not limited to, Academic Affairs, Campus Safety, Residential Life, Prevention and Advocacy, Student Wellness, Title IX Coordinator, and General Counsel.
• Educates faculty, staff, and students by offering regular opportunities to highlight community standards and their connection to the values of inclusion and equity, as well as the conduct process, where appropriate.
• Participates in college-wide events, including residence hall openings, orientation, welcome week, family weekend and commencement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree and four (4) to six (6) years of experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated experience in student conduct.
• Applied understanding of student development theory, including the impact of student behavior on student success.
• Experience with investigations and prevention efforts.
• Experience implementing restorative justice practices and alternative dispute resolution.
• Multicultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in all forms.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with all constituencies.
• An understanding of emerging issues in higher education, particularly in student services.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Involvement regionally or nationally in professional development associations within higher education.
• Experience working within Maxient.
• Experience with student conduct assessment design and implementation.
