This position requires you to live within a reasonable commuting distance of East Carolina University. The Classification and Compensation section provides a comprehensive program of services, serving an advisory role to University management, department heads, and supervisors through a fair and equitable application of state and federal policies and procedures. The section is responsible for ensuring campus-wide equity through the proper classification of all staff positions (SHRA, CSS, DMSS) and EHRA Non-Faculty positions, with full consideration of salary administration issues. Consistent with the service mission of the University, we provide consultation on organization and position design, compensation analysis and salary administration, consultation of departmental pay philosophies and strategies. Reporting to the Senior HR Consultant within Classification and Compensation, the position is one of seven consultants responsible for maintaining the classification and compensation career banding and broad-banding systems for all SHRA, CSS and DMSS positions. Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. The staff works to support the mission of the University with an overarching commitment to outstanding customer service and accountability. The department consists of seven units that oversee the entire human resources function to include policy administration, recruitment and selection, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, career development and training, classification and compensation, information systems, and data reporting. Human resource matters are governed by state statutes, UNC Policy Manual, and The Code of the University of North Carolina, and most processes and actions are prescribed by these governing documents. Human Resources plays a critical role in ensuring ECU is accountable and compliant in terms of Federal, State, and UNC System human resources practices.
