The University of Minnesota seeks a proven leader to provide strategic direction, leadership, and operational excellence in serving as its Chief Investment Officer (CIO) / Associate Vice President (AVP). The CIO is primarily responsible for developing and implementing the strategic investment objectives of the University’s financial asset programs, as set forth in Board policy. This includes oversight of ~$4.5 billion of aggregate capital across the Consolidated Endowment Fund (CEF), the Temporary Investment Pool (TIP), the Group Income Pool (GIP), and the University’s captive insurance company (RUMINCO). This individual has management responsibility for the eleven investment professionals and treasury staff within OIB. The treasury function includes oversight of all banking, treasury, and cash management responsibilities University-wide, investment operations for all University financial assets and other financial transactions as described in Board policy.
The CIO reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations/Treasurer for the University of Minnesota. This position works closely with the institution's senior leadership to achieve the University's investment and financial objectives and is considered the University's "in-house expert” in issues related to capital markets, investments and finance.
