Departmental Overview Engineering Student Services addresses the needs of 4,200 undergraduates in the College of Engineering. The Engineering Student Services (ESS) Advising & Policy Director formulates the goals and objectives for the Undergraduate Advising/Curriculum/Policy Unit of ESS ensuring conceptual compatibility with the broader missions of ESS, the College of Engineering (COE), and the University. The incumbent directs overall operations of the advising unit, sets and upholds professional expectations and standards for all advising staff, and conducts regular and comprehensive evaluations and assessments of the quality and effectiveness of programs to determine the extent to which the goals and objectives of the ESS advising/curriculum/policy unit address changing student needs and institutional priorities. In collaboration with the associate dean, the dean and faculty, the incumbent develops long-range strategic plans directed towards the fulfillment of the stated goals and objectives of Berkeley Engineering and focused on comprehensive advising programs and services for undergraduate students. The Advising & Policy Director works to ensure that ESS advising is guided by and achieves the following core values: A. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $85,800 to $140,000 annually. This is a 100% FTE career position eligible for full benefits.
