Job Summary

You will play an integral role on an amazing team, reporting to the Assistant Registrar supporting her with the university's curriculum and graduation processes. You will also help us build curricular rules, update catalog copy and student records, and perform graduation audits all the while providing exceptional customer service to the university's multiple partners.

What You Will Do

• Verify graduation audits, process waiver memos and maintain student records
• Scribe degree and program requirements in the annual catalogs
• Enter catalog changes
• Process curriculum changes and grade changes; academic notations on the transcript and graduation applications
• Verify old student records
• Enter academic information from archived transcripts into database
• Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff and the public on a variety of issues
• Work with departments to resolve graduation issues
• Post degrees and honors designations to transcripts
• Process final transcripts
• Help resolve problems regarding anything related to the Office of the Registrar
• Provide support to the front desk
• Take minutes at Academic Standards Committee meetings
• Assist Commencement ceremonies

The Skills You Have

• High school diploma or equivalent 
• 4 years of relevant administrative experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use technical or automated business processes. Proficient in the use of database systems, reporting tools, imaging software, workflows, Google docs, Google sheets and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and plan work activities independently.
• Demonstrated adaptability to change; must be detail-oriented with good proof-reading skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills; ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and recognize when a problem needs to be escalated.
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with students, faculty and staff.

Work Schedule

Initially you will work in person, but will transition to a hybrid schedule. A hybrid schedule includes working some days on campus and some days remotely. This is subject to change based on the responsibilities of the position and the needs of the department.

Underfill statement

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Candidates with the following education and experience will be considered for the Intermediate level.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years, but less than 4 years of relevant administrative experience

The salary range at the Intermediate level is $34,300 $42,900

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
