Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related field of study.
Experience in student services and/or international program administration (or recruitment) in higher education.
Experience participating in a study abroad program.
Experience presenting and/or teaching to small and large groups.
Experience with data management systems to be used for forecasting, goal setting, and assessment.
Experience with MS Office and multi-media; experience using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube (in a professional setting).

Job Description:

Summary
Iowa State University’s College of Human Sciences is seeking an engaging individual for the position of Study Abroad Advisor II. This position, reporting to the Director of Student Services, will serve as the program coordinator for all international programming in the College of Human Sciences.
 

Example of Duties
• Manages a portfolio of study abroad programs and services.
• Recruits and advises students in study abroad programs.
• Coordinates overseas logistics including housing, field trips, classrooms, flights, etc.
• Advises management on program budgets, student and faculty issues, and on programs and projects.
• Explains interpretation of study abroad policies and procedures and assist faculty with overseas issues.
• Develops new programs and study abroad opportunities.
• Assists in the design of study abroad courses in conjunction with faculty.

This position will also coordinate the Human Sciences minor and serve as the instructor of record for one course each semester.


Level Guidelines
• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Provides guidance to students
