With the launch of Next Lives Here, the Cincinnati Innovation District, a $100 million JobsOhio investment, nine straight years of record enrollment, global leadership in cooperative education, a dynamic academic health center and entry into the Big 12 Conference, UC's momentum has never been stronger. UC's annual budget tops $1.65 billion and its endowment totals $1.8 billion. Job OverviewWe are a Department of Engineering and Computing Education (DECE) with burgeoning M.S. and Ph.D. programs seeking a visionary leader to grow our national and international footprint in engineering education research. Since 2007, the Department has administered the first-year engineering course sequence, which is focused on developing students in various areas, including design thinking, algorithmic thinking, and professional skills. We aim to expand our graduate program to be a distinct element of the engineering education ecosystem by immersing students in rigorous methodological training and leveraging the University of Cincinnati's history of cooperative education to provide experiential learning opportunities within and outside academia. Our graduate program prepares students to conduct state-of-the-art educational research in engineering and bridge research to practice by defining effective practices, identifying the reasons why they work, developing curricula, assessing how students learn, and moving those findings into future engineering classrooms. Our undergraduate contributions to the College also necessitate a nimble leader that can successfully integrate emerging educational technologies into the curriculum and collaborate with other departments to ensure students are well-positioned for upper-division courses and co-op rotations. Currently, DECE does not confer any undergraduate degrees, but there is considerable interest in developing an undergraduate program allowing students to develop expertise that spans multiple areas, both within and outside engineering.
