Director of Regulatory and Industry Affairs, Industrial Systems
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) represents nearly 325 electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers that make safe, reliable, and efficient products and systems serving major markets including the Built Environment, the Grid, Industrial, Core Electrical and Mobility. NEMA’s combined industries account for 360,000 American jobs in more than 7,000 facilities covering every state. These industries produce $106 billion in shipments and $36 billion in exports of electrical equipment and medical imaging technologies per year.
Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, NEMA’s mission is to accelerate and create an environment in which the all-electric economy will thrive. NEMA employs approximately 75, to grow to 85 over the next year and an annual operating budget of approximately $24 million, expected to grow to $34 million over the same timeframe. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association engages in advocacy on public policy issues important to those industries, develops performance and other Standards in the electrical and medical imaging industries, and provides economic reports and analytical products to assist Member companies with business decisions. NEMA is an ANSI-accredited standards development organization.
The Director of Regulatory and Industry Affairs, Industrial Systems leads NEMA’s regulatory agency engagement and issue management relative to NEMA members with industrial application products and technologies, including industrial automation and motors. The Director engages with agency officials at the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other relevant federal and state agencies on rulemakings and other programs of interest to NEMA members. The Director leads teams of members to develop positions and strategies that advance member interests. The Director also works with NEMA members to develop strategies to advance NEMA members interests in the Industrial space, by bringing to bear other NEMA competencies such as federal and state legislative affairs, internal and external communications, standards development and market insights. The position reports to the Senior Vice President, Regulatory and Legal Affairs. NEMA delivers values to members using a matrixed, multi-faceted model, supported and facilitated by the Director.
The position is located in Arlington, Virginia, allows for a hybrid work schedule, and may include up to 30 percent time on travel, including both domestic and international.
