Bucknell University seeks a Student Success Coach for our College of Engineering. The Student Success Coach is committed and dedicated to providing the highest levels of service to students and high-level, essential support to the Associate Dean for Students in the College of Engineering. The Student Success Coach is responsible for promoting student success through personalized, proactive, and responsive support and advocacy, as well as providing prompt problem resolution. This position engages in front-line student academic support, oversees multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, screens and prioritizes communications and opportunities from external and internal constituents, and effectively handles administrative processes. The Student Success Coach works closely with faculty and students to support advising and peer mentoring programs and maintains a consistent pattern of contact and communications with students in need of support. This position involves frequent student-faculty-administration-parent contact and assistance, and a thorough knowledge of the engineering curricula.

The Student Success Coach must be qualified to provide student advising throughout the year, including monitoring relevant reports to identify potential issues related to student academic progress. Advising will be required, both one-on-one and in a group setting, and includes both curricular and developmental advising. This position may require some evening and weekend hours to accommodate students in need and staffing events. Some overnight travel may be required for student trips and for ongoing professional development opportunities. Above all, the Student Success Coach demonstrates the ability to work independently, handle confidential information, work in a pressured environment, and pay careful attention to details while multi-tasking and meeting deadlines. The Student Success Coach reports to the Associate Dean for Students in the College of Engineering. This position is donor funded for a minimum of 5 years, with the possibility of extension if more funding is secured.

Job Duties:
? Engage directly with students, parents, faculty, and staff and provide student advising for early navigation of possible barriers to success. This person is available regularly for specific on-the-spot advising for both students and faculty. This can relate to scheduling questions (both immediate and long-range), academic policy and procedural questions, transfer credit questions, course withdrawals, etc. This person also offers the same level of access to parents, providing general information and specific student-related content following FERPA guidelines.
? Engage with the Beacon notification system and connect with students of concern both during and outside of regular office hours to provide support. Maintains a regular caseload of students both from an initial cohort invitation and as referred by the Associate Dean for Students providing specific case management and scheduling weekly accountability and support sessions for academically, personally, and socially at-risk students. Facilitates use of campus resources and helps to normalize said use, providing follow-up accountability. Follows up after academic notices and alerts and proactively identifies, monitors, and creates specific and directed intervention plans for at-risk students, including intrusive advising when appropriate.
? Collaborate with other departments and functional areas to deliver an optimal student experience from enrollment through graduation. Engages students through a variety of communication channels and proactive outreach to students. Communicates with faculty advisers and mentors, Athletics, the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), and campus partners in Student Affairs (i.e., Residential Ed, Housing, International and Multicultural Student Services, etc.) to better understand student status. Continuous outreach to students formerly of concern. Generates case notes for student files and maintains thorough records for statistical purposes.
? Assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of proactive retention strategies designed to promote early academic success and persistence of students.
? In addition to the regular responsive advising, assist with onboarding transfer students and readmission of students returning from a leave of absence. This includes answering student and parent questions and working with students to ensure they are registered for appropriate courses. Works with the Garman Guides program to provide transfer students with specific orientation and ongoing support related to the College of Engineering. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the evolving engineering curricula, policies, and procedures and communicates this information correctly.
? Conduct various training sessions related to advising, including several group student sessions prior to advising before course registration and faculty advisor training sessions for all new faculty advisors.
? Maintain certification in Academic or Student Success Coaching. Pursue professional development opportunities to bring new methods of learning support to the College of Engineering. Ensure the office is using best practices in student support and assessment of related services.
? Support planning and execution of special events related to the College of Engineering (e.g., admissions, Garman Guides, Engineering Success Alliance, Pre-Orientation Program, etc.).
? Participate in the collection and analysis of data regarding student success.
? Represent the College of Engineering in relevant meetings across campus that address student support and support systems.
? Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean.

Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree (specialty in student affairs, social psychology, or education a plus)
? Three or more years of experience in a setting with frequent client contact
? Exceptional customer service skills, relating to recruitment and retention of students as well as maintenance of good relations with parents and alumni
? Ability to provide first-line life skills counseling to students and recognize when students require additional professional counseling
? Demonstrated ability to positively interact with a wide range of individuals and commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion
? Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize deadlines and successfully manage multiple priorities
? Demonstrated knowledge of computers and proficiency in software including Microsoft Office Word and Excel, email and calendaring applications
? Ability to handle sensitive confidential information in a responsible and appropriate manner and always use good judgment
? Proactive approach to projects, problem-solving, communication needs, and planning
? Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
? Master's degree (specialty in student affairs, social psychology, or education a plus)
? Experience with academic advising or student academic affairs
? Experience with relevant online systems (e.g., HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, Moodle, document imaging systems, etc.)

Work Type:
This position is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible, staff position.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time; all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a Staff Exempt position with a hiring range of $43,280 to $54,100. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
