This position in the School of Film & Television (SFTV) is responsible for development, administrative oversight, and coordination of film, television, and media festival and lab relations. They will create and manage festival opportunities for SFTV students, create and manage film and television external lab opportunities for SFTV students and alumni, present festival and lab internships and career opportunities to SFTV students and alumni, and program related festival and lab events in conjunction with the events coordinator, the Director of Industry & Alumni Relations, faculty, staff, and the Dean.

Reporting to the Dean of SFTV or an alternative senior leadership position designated by the Dean, this position works closely with industry partners, students, alumni, and collaborates with faculty and staff, Marketing & Communications, Alumni Relations, and Career and Professional Development to meet the diverse needs of SFTV.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Develop relationships with top-tier U.S., international, and regional film festivals, creative labs, fellowships, grants, and established creative competitions.
• Create and maintain a robust database of festivals, competitions, grants, and fellowships appropriate for SFTV students.
• Work with the Production Administration Team (PAT) to organize and maintain a database of student creative work.
• Promote student creative work to the entertainment industry, including production companies, festivals, fellowships, labs, etc.
• Identify appropriate festivals, film labs, grants, fellowships, and contests for SFTV student submissions, specifically targeting organizations with an emphasis on emerging talent and ones devoted to student work (e.g., Student Academy Awards, ASC Student Heritage Awards, etc.).
• Represent LMU and SFTV and increase our participation and visibility at strategically targeted festivals and entertainment events at the direction of the Dean.
• Educate and help prepare students for involvement with film, tv, and media festivals, including the submissions processes, attendance guidelines/tips, and industry networking opportunities.
• Connect students to film, television, and media festivals, grants, competitions, and fellowship program professionals.
• Cultivate relationships with students in collaboration with faculty and staff, to identify projects with strongest potential for acceptance at key festivals, labs, and competitions.
• Help students develop a proactive approach to film festival research and applications, self-distribution, audience-building, industry networking, and career exploration and building.
• Work with students to track progress and ensure that festival, grant, fellowship, and contest opportunities and submissions are successful.
• Work with current school collaborative partners and the Career and Professional Development office to identify opportunities for student/alumni interaction with entertainment industry creatives and executives that can lead to meaningful professional relationships.
• In collaboration with SFTV's events team, produce events to present information regarding festivals, grants, fellowships, workshops, labs, and other opportunities to SFTV students and Alumni.
• Establish and manage budgets for festival submissions, labs, and any other partnerships in consultation with the dean and exercise fiscal responsibility.
• Develop and employ strategies that ensure maximum student and alumni engagement in festival, lab, fellowship, and grant submissions.
• Produce alumni labs as needed with partner organizations which includes developing the submission process, setting the goals for the lab, creating timelines, reviewing applications, and providing support throughout the process.
• Establish and maintain guidelines regarding LMU branding on festival submissions.
• Hire and supervise student workers and graduate assistants as needed and perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

• Typically, a bachelor's degree in the entertainment field or equivalent experience. A master's degree is preferred.
• Four years of film festival experience or a comparable position working with emerging filmmakers, film festivals, industry professionals, and film organizations.
• A commitment and passion for working with students and emerging talent to achieve their goals and raise the public profile of LMU students and alumni.
• A self-motivated professional who enjoys and is capable of productive networking and building substantial relationships with new partners and potential collaborators and will be comfortable collaborating with SFTV faculty, staff, and others to maximize opportunities for students and alumni.
• Exemplary communication skills including written communication, public speaking, ability to write executive reports and presentations, and basic copywriting.
• Must approach work proactively with strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage industry related events, screenings, seminars, and workshops.

This position requires working non-traditional hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed.
